Welcome to our Latin American Studies podcast.
In this three-episode podcast series produced by Villanova students, the hosts will take you on a journey to Yucatec Maya communities working on sustainable development projects, such as milpa farming systems, stingless beekeeping, and community-based tourism initiatives.
These podcasts were the final projects for the course “Ethnoecology and Indigenous Sustainability in Yucatan”, which is part of the Spanish Language and Indigenous Sustainability program in Mérida, Yucatán, México. The place-based education approach of this course allowed students to immerse in local communities and heritage for the study of culture, language, and the environment from an ethnoecological perspective.
The hosts immerse in the Meliponiculture practice and xunan kab stingless bees' world through Yucatec Maya historical, ethnoecological, and feminist perspectives
We hope you enjoy this episode.
