Sauerkraut is a form of fermented cabbage that has grown in popularity amongst health conscious individuals. Not only does it add flavour and enhance different recipes, but it also provides important health benefits such as improving digestion, boosting the immune system and is packed with many different nutrients. Now, lets discuss some of the amazing health benefits of consuming sauerkraut regularly.
1. First, sauerkraut is an amazing source of many different types of vitamins, minerals and other healthy nutrients for our body. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, folate and vitamin B6 among many others. It is also a good source of dietary fibre and due to its fermentation, can help to promote the growth of probiotics which are beneficial for gut and overall health.
2. As mentioned previously, sauerkraut can also help to improve overall digestion and improve the overall functioning of the digestive system. This is often attributed to sauerkraut containing beneficial probiotics which can help to protect the gut from harmful toxins and unwanted bacteria. They can also help to improve digestion and increase nutrient uptake from the healthy foods we eat, as well as reduce unwanted digestive ailments, such as constipation, gas and bloating.

The high levels of nutrition in sauerkraut are also helpful in this regard.
4. It can also help to naturally boost the immune system and is loaded with immunity boosting nutrients and compounds. Probiotics in the gut can help to balance gut bacteria and keep the gut lining healthy, which can greatly affect our overall health and immunity. As well, studies have shown that having a healthy gut flora may help to increase the production of natural antibodies. Sauerkraut is also a rich source of vitamin C and iron, both of which are important for a healthy immune system and contains nutrients that can help to fight infections.
5. Lastly, regular consumption of sauerkraut can help with weight loss and maintaining healthy weight.
