As we journeyed in Kruger National Park from Skukuza Camp to Tshokwane picnic spot, our hearts fluttered with anticipation when we heard reports of lions spotted near the Olifant Drinkgat waterhole. It felt like fate when we decided to stop there, hoping for a glimpse of these magnificent creatures. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the sight of a solitary male lion approaching from the north. To our surprise and delight, he was soon joined by two other male lions and a female, creating a beautiful moment.
They approached the waterhole, pausing to drink deeply as if savouring each drop. Afterwards, they found solace in the shade of a nearby jackal berry tree, their contented bellies resting peacefully in the afternoon warmth.
As a cherished addition to this memory, we also have a clip from a couple of months ago, showcasing the same lions on the move. It warms our hearts to know that they have become such a cherished presence in the Olifant Drinkgat area.
