This system features a FANUC R-2000iB robot combined with FANUC iRVision technology to efficiently pick camshafts from a semi-structured bin and load and unload them from a deburring machine.
A FANUC 3DA/1300 Area Sensor scans the bin to locate a camshaft. The R-2000iB Robot, equipped with a MagSwitch industrial magnetic gripper picks one camshaft at a time from the bin and drops it onto a secondary 2D vision table. A Basler GigE 2D Camera combined with iRVision software locates the camshaft for precise picking and loading into a deburring machine.
This system utilizes two 3DA/1300s to allow for continuous operation of the robot - as one bin is emptied the robot immediately moves to the other bin leaving the empty bin free to be exchanged. The large automotive OEM where this system is installed is very happy with the performance of this system and has thirteen robots doing this exact process. This automotive OEM has experienced many gains in their manufacturing metrics as a direct result of the installation of this technology.
