While Ustrasana is one of the more accessible backbends in Ashtanga’s Intermediate Series, these tips will allow you to find more openness & ease within the pose.
In this tutorial, we’re showing you how to do USTRASANA \ CAMEL POSE from Ashtanga's Intermediate Series. Though this pose is often practiced in other schools of yoga, we give you the traditional vinyasa cues and Sanskrit count as practiced in the Ashtanga tradition. You’ll learn how to find extension through the hips, where to deepen into the backbend, and why we use a specific arm position, with coordinates and tips for correct alignment to help you avoid injury and discomfort. You’ll know where to place more awareness in the pose and how to access it in a way that feels good in your body.
