Marlene Dietrich was a German 1920s stage and theatre actor. Her breakthrough silent film was The Woman One Longs For (1929) which helped start her Hollywood career at MGM. It was here that the great Max Factor created her iconic femme fatale makeup look. Making her eyes ( under pencil thin painted brows) larger with top heavy eyeshadow. Teamed with well defined lips and prominent cheekbones, Marlene Dietrich's look transfixed both male and female moviegoers.

0:21 Foundation.
Apply a thick mattifying foundation to the entire face using a sponge.
0:54 Eyebrows.
Draw thin, arched eyebrows using taupe eyeshadow. I shaved my brows for this look, but you can find eyebrow cover online to achieve a similar effect.
1:26 Eyeshadow.
Generously cover the entire eyelid up to the eyebrow with ivory eyeshadow. Apply grey and brown shadow to the crease of the upper eyelid. Blend the edges with light eyeshadow, making them invisible. Apply grey-brown shadow to the lower eyelid.
Draw the line of the upper lashes with a black pencil and fix the line with black shadow. Apply a white pencil to the waterline of the lower eyelid.
3:01 Mascara
Apply black mascara to your upper lashes. Use false eyelashes.
3:40 Sculpturing.
Apply a light concealer to the under-eye area. Use a creamy light brown contour stick to correct the cheekbones and nose. Set your face makeup with veil powder.
4:57 Blush.
Apply dark rosy blush to your cheeks.
5:13 Lipstick
Outline your lips to create a heart shape using a dark pink pencil. Apply a dark red-pink lipstick to your lips.

I also take early fragments of silent 16fps footage and restore them to life by a combination of manual frame by frame colorization as well as the use of deep exemplar-based video colorization techniques. The footage is upscaled and the frames interpolated to a higher frame rate ( in most cases 60 frames per second.) Finally I produce a soundtrack which helps build a new immersive experience for the viewer.
