IUI is a first step procedure where we improve the sperm quality in the laboratory by 15 – 20 % and similarly in the partner, the egg quality is improved by medication methods and also monitoring of the egg quality and doing the insemination. So, the expenses involved are of the monitoring process, the medication and the sperm improvement techniques what we call as processing. So the success rate of these procedures and normal pregnancy per cycle per attempt if your husband and wife are normal and they try for a baby, the approximate pregnancy rate is about 5 -7 % per cycle per attempt. So when you do an IUI, you improve the chances, it become s 14 – 15 % per cycle per attempt and if you do an IVF, where you take the eggs out of the partner or the wife and take the sperm and specifically either keep the sperm next to the egg or inject the sperm which is called exi, the success rate can vary anywhere between 30 % -50%, that is the general success rate because success is also dependant on the egg quality and the sperm quality. It is not a uniform success rate for all individuals. And consequently, the cost can vary. The IUI can typically cost anything between 12000 and 18000 and IVF can cost anywhere between 1.1 to 1.6 lakhs, so each individual has to go through a consultation process to decide what is the treatment. This is an era of personalized treatment. It is not a uniform treatment. All men and women area not subjected like a template and its like not a machine where we give the same treatment for everybody. So there is a variation, so costs also will vary depending on what you need for achieving the pregnancy. The end goal is a successful pregnancy.
