In the shadows of the twilight
I was walking down the road,
I was restless, I was weary
and I wondered all alone.

The breeze was calming, the sun was low,
so I blessed the land I walked,
and I wondered if a rambler
can ever settle down at all.

Then I saw the darkness falling
o'er the vastness of the sea
so I rested on the sand
lying still and feeling free.

Nothing happened but this song,
and I just lay there for awhile,
and there was no one to share with me
the beauty of the Southern sky.
