Laishram Kamal Babu, a resident of Imphal West, went missing on Monday after heading to work at the Leimakhong Military Station. Kamal Babu, a supervisor for a contractor with the Military Engineering Services, disappeared near the station located at the border of Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi and Meitei-dominated Imphal West. His phone was switched off around 2 PM that day, according to his family. The Army and police launched a joint search operation on Tuesday, deploying helicopters, quadcopters, and tracker dogs to locate him. The disappearance has sparked widespread protests, with large groups, mostly women, blocking roads and demanding answers from authorities. Chief Minister Biren Singh stated on Tuesday that a zero FIR has been filed in connection with the case, and police are coordinating with army authorities to trace the missing individual.
