(26 Oct 2020) Hundreds of Romanians took part Monday at a pilgrimage to visit the relics of Saint Dimitrie Bassarov, traditionally regarded by Orthodox believers as the patron and protector of the Romanian capital.
Religious authorities have urged believers to avoid mass gatherings this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the pilgrimage took place on a much smaller scale than usual.
People queued outside the Romania Patriarchal cathedral in Bucharest, all wearing face masks, respecting social distancing and sanitizing their hands, before entering the cathedral or lighting candles.
