China has placed tens of thousands of people in lockdown as it takes action to stamp out a growing COVID-19 outbreak. Nearly 40 new infections have been detected, bringing the total to more than 100 over the past week. Beijing is trying to wipe out the virus ahead of the Winter Olympics.
