A Prison Officer was shot and wounded in 2nd Caledonia, Morvant on Monday 21st August, 2023.

• At around 5:30am, the 41-year-old officer was in a vehicle with a woman and her 9-year-old brother when they heard a series of gunshots.

• The officer then felt a burning sensation on his face and realized that he had been shot and instructed the woman to drive him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

• The officer received treatment and was listed in stable condition.

• The incident was reported to the police and a team of officers led by Sgt Mitchell responded and are continuing investigations.
