(5 Dec 2016) A series of small explosions occurred in Aleppo on Monday morning, a day after the Syrian army ordered rebels to leave the city or face "inevitable death."
At approximately 0925 local time (0725 GMT), a plume of smoke could be seen rising from the city.
Rebel defences have buckled after months of siege and waves of devastating airstrikes, and the opposition could soon be driven from Syria's largest city.

Rebels swept into Aleppo in 2012.
The government's fortunes changed after the Russian air force intervened in September 2015, allowing the government to begin to reconquer it.
