At the beginning of 2022, we decided to set an ambitious goal. Return to Mexico and climb Iztaccihuatl, and if we succeed go for an attempt at Mexico's highest volcano/mountain- Pico de Orizaba (5,636m / 18,491ft).



We went from Puebla to Tlachichuca and all the way to Refugio Piedra Grande, where it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere.


The weather conditions were pretty bad the first day. We got to rest in the Piedra Grande hut and set off for an Alpine start the following day.


Orizaba was by no means an easy mountain, its high altitude feels like it pushes you down and from Jamapa glacier its summit looks deceivingly close, where in reality the battle has just begun.


Orizaba is the third highest mountain in North America and by its summit, every meter confirms this truth.
