At this online Policy Dialogue, we discussed the outcomes of the 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), held in Sharm El Sheikh between 6 and 18 November this year. The discussion considered the state of play with regard to the climate emergency. It also reflected on the next steps for global climate action and the obstacles and opportunities ahead. Special consideration was given to how the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s war in Ukraine have impacted mitigation efforts across the world, as well as to the issue of climate finance. Last but not least, the event discussed the role of the EU in enhancing global climate action and ensuring the effective implementation of the agreed measures.
