New pistols are being introduced to the special forces of the Bundeswehr under the names P14 (basic weapon) and P14K (compact weapon). The traditional company Carl Walther with its Performance Duty Pistol family (PDP) was awarded the entry in the “Special Forces System Pistol” competition. This is the company's first significant order in the military sector, as the service pistols have previously been used primarily by the police.
