I reach for the best in each person in front of my camera. I seek the dreamers, the doers, I seek to be inspired. Athletes have hence become among my favorite subjects. With their uniquely competitive spirit, each are so individualistic in their approaches, but there is a clarity that comes across in all of them.
It has been a fulfilling experience to make videos for the World Anti Doping Agency, and meeting countless atheletes through their world wide initiative. Indeed, WADA is about athletes reaching for their best selves. With performance enhancing drugs you can't truly measure oneself, you can't be a true athlete. I, personally, am interested in what makes that true athlete? How do they access "the zone"? What makes them able to compete on the world stage? WADA has given me the opportunity to explore those ideas with Olympic athletes from across the globe. I have learned a great deal from these encounters, notably that being a true athlete is not about winning or losing but rather about reaching beyond the best that you can be. That is something we can all aspire to.
