A sandstorm swept across Golmu city in northwest China's Qinghai Province on Wednesday, turning the sky yellow and obscuring.
The sandstorm occurred at 19:31. It enveloped the whole city with sand and dust in a short time, visibility plummeted to as low as 100 meters in Golmu suburb. No casualties and property damage were reported so far.
The sandstorm, as high as tens of meters, approached the city downtown from afar like a little mountain against a clear sky.
The sandstorm swept over the whole city in just a few minutes, and brought the gale wind of 17.2 meters per second to 20.7 meters per second. The city turned yellow, with visibility reduced to less than 600 meters in city roads, and drivers can hardly move without lights on.
Local traffic police warned drivers to be careful by patrol inspection, whistles and loud verbal warnings, flashing lights, and guiding drivers in important road sections.
