***FYI- I am on my second jar of the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream and still loving it. With twice daily liberal use my first jar lasted four months, just an FYI.
The Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream is full of proteins, peptides, and amino acids- all of which are good for the skin. Drunk Elephant has included several new peptides, many of which are proving to be good for anti-aging and slowing the development of wrinkles- and many so new that there isn't a ton of peer reviewed research yet showing all the possible benefits. So far these do look to be quite promising in slowing the aging process and thinning of the skin.
The cream is more of a gel-lotion texture and is quite thinner than the Drunk Elephant LaLa Rertro Whipped Cream. If that was too thick or emollient for your skin the new Protini Cream is worth giving a try. You can also mix this in with other serums, gels, or lotions that you already use to give it a bit of an anti-aging pump.
I tend to think that Drunk Elephant caters to those of us with dry but non-acne prone skin. Many of their products can be extremely emollient and sometimes those emollients can be pore-clogging to people that have acne prone skin. The Protini Polypeptide Cream does contain a couple of emollients that can cause clogged pores- coconut shows up in this cream, but it is over halfway down the ingredient list. Whether or not this might cause a breakout is very individual so if you have extremely acne-prone skin I would recommend starting slowly to see if your skin will react to these emollients. If the LaLa Cream caused a breakout that doesn't mean this will also cause that because this is more heavy in the peptide department as opposed to the emollient one.
I've been using the Protini Cream in addition to the LaLa Retro Cream. In the morning I've changed my routine up a bit and now use the Protini Cream first after cleansing. Then I follow up with my serums, sunblock, and foundation. I found using the Protini Cream last sometimes caused some pilliing and I corrected the problem by using this first, even though this goes contrary to the order you think you would normally apply them (lightest product first to heaviest product last).
Overall, this could possibly be a good addition to your skincare routine. The more antioxidants, skin-communicating, skin replenishing, and anti-aging ingredients you can add to your routine the better.
