Pastured Poultry Chores - Pastured Chickens Into Tractors - Pastured Turkeys Into The Brooder.
Its time to move our pastured poultry chickens out of the brooder and into our Suscovich Chicken Tractors. These are the Freedom Ranger Color Yield that have been in the brooder for 3 weeks and they are going out on pasture. These birds will spend the next 5 - 6 weeks on pasture where they will be moved daily and have a diet of fresh forages, bugs, worms and other things to scratch and eat as they grow. Our birds are raised completely on grass where they have plenty of fresh air and sunshine.
We are also moving our pastured turkeys that will be Thanksgiving turkey dinners out of the small brooder in our house and into the larger brooder at the barn. These are broad breasted white turkeys and are currently 1 week old. In a few weeks these birds will move out onto pasture where they too will forage for grass, bugs, worms and other fresh things to eat. The turkeys are also raised completely on grass where they have plenty of fresh air and sunshine.
Both types of pastured poultry, pastured chickens and pastured turkeys are very easy to care for a raise with a little practice and know how. You can raise your own food!
