Fresh violence and arson erupted during the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Ram Navami Shobha Yatra at Rishra in West Bengal's Hooghly on Sunday. Stone pelting was also reported.
Defying police orders, BJP Bengal president Sukanta Majumder reached Howrah’s Shibpur on Sunday to meet local residents at Panchsheel apartment, where vandalism was reported during a Ram Navami procession. Majumder, however, was stopped from visiting the site.
Clashes erupted in West Bengal’s Howrah between two groups during a Ram Navami procession on Thursday.
