So far, guitar makers rarely use bamboo as raw material for guitar making because it requires special techniques obtained from an experimental process that will never happen again and with a high level of difficulty. After going through a long process, they managed to find the best way to optimize the character of bamboo so that it can produce a resonance sound that is quite distinctive and unique for a guitar.
The characteristics of the strength / structure are also more durable than guitars made of wood / the like because the strength of temperature will affect the construction and sound.
The bamboo used for making musical instruments is dominated by the types of betung bamboo, Sweat bamboo and black bamboo. Before becoming a ready-to-production bamboo sheet, the bamboo first goes through a one-year soaking process and natural drying for six months. A long process, produces good sound with long durability. The longer the process, the longer the sound quality produced. Each bamboo used has its advantages and disadvantages, but for now it is mostly using betung bamboo. Black bamboo is softer and the grain is coarser, when one grain is pulled out it's severe, and the problem is that there are no long segments, having short segment on the soundboard is highly avoided.
