Tips have long been a facet of sit-down dining in the U.S., but as more businesses have begun to ask for them, some customers have reached their tipping point.
Bozeman restaurant owner Matt Paine tried taking a different approach to make it easier for customers to swallow.
Paine operated Nordic Brew Works since 2018. Earlier this year, he implemented a service charge or automatic gratuity for customer checks, becoming the only restaurant in Bozeman to do so.
