On May 22, 1946, Dr. Walter Siemers, counsel for Adm. Erich Raeder, called Adm. Erich Schulte-Moenting. He had served under Raeder as an adjutant and later Raeder's chief of staff from 1939-43. He testified that the accounts of the meeting when Hitler showed aggressive intentions were exaggerated. He testified that Raeder's recommendation that Japan attack Singapore was not intended as a measure to instigate a war between Japan and America.
