The South African Police Service has confirmed that the security for the new Amazulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has NOT been withdrawn. This follows concerns over the security of the new king after reports that the SAPS VIP Protection Unit had been instructed to withdraw late on Saturday night. Concerns were raised by several members of the royal family. They include Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi, traditional prime minister to the amaZulu monarch. Buthelezi said in a statement that it was clear the new king was facing threats as his naming on Friday evening was vehemently challenged by some members of the royal family and he had to be whisked away to safety.
