If you own property in BC, you may have recently received a property assessment notice in the mail. This notice is an estimate of the value of your property as of July 1st of the previous year, and it is used to calculate your property taxes.
My video looked exclusively at Single Family Homes. The percentages may differ for Townhomes and Condos.
It's important to know that the value listed on your assessment notice may not necessarily be the same as the market value of your property. It's also important to remember that receiving a property assessment notice does not mean that your property taxes will automatically go up.
If you have any questions about your property assessment notice or if you disagree with the value listed, you can contact the BC Assessment Authority to learn more about the appeal process.
Thanks for watching. I hope this video has helped you understand more about property assessment notices in British Columbia
