The national criminal database search is one of the most misunderstood searches.
So what does it really cover? Here are the details...
Court records, incarceration records, prison and inmate records, probation, parole and release data, arrest data and more. This search also includes a 50 state Sex Offender Registry Search, Global Report & OFAC.
Global Report includes searches such as, but not limited to: Patriot Act Watch List, National Security & Terrorism Watch Lists, Office of Foreign Asset Control, Denied Persons List, Interpol Most Wanted List, Office of Inspector General, General Services Administration - Excluded Parties System List
The government watch list are great to search, but it is very, very rare to have a hit on any of those types of searches.
The national criminal database will NOT be able to pull back cases filed in counties and states that require an access fee or additional authorization to pull records (Examples would be Los Angeles County, New York State & Georgia Statewide)
The national criminal database search is a great way to start your research in a background screening report, but it the SWISS CHEESE of searches. The databases it pulls from are typically outdated and missing critical identifiers.
REMEMBER... if you choose to ONLY run the National Criminal Database Search that COUNTY criminal search is required to verify hits found on the National Criminal Database. The County Criminal search is required to verify the charges, disposition (Guilty, Conviction, Plea, etc.), the full name and date of birth of the applicant, and the disposition dates.
