A tropical storm has developed in the Arabian Sea, and is expected to intensify as it gradually moves towards the northwest. This new storm is likely to become a major cyclone later this week and into the weekend as it sets course for the Arabian Peninsula. Landfall concerns may be raised for next week, but at present the forecast is uncertain.
Elsewhere, another tropical cyclone is likely to develop in the Western Pacific, and could also become a major typhoon as it gradually curves northwards and then northeastwards late this week into early next week.
Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center has designated an area of interest near the Azores, with a small chance of development. These chances are likely to diminish before the end of the week.
