While it was a cloudy day here in Seoul, over 30 centimeters of snow fell in some parts of the eastern region of the country. For more, let's go over to Lee Jee-hyun at the weather center. Jee-hyun, give us details on this heavy snowfall.
Most of Gangwon-do Province received between 10 and 40 centimeters of snow today, the biggest accumulation has been recorded in Gangwon-do Province's Misiryeong Pass and police had to close off some adjacent local roads to clear the snow.
A heavy snow advisory still remains in place for some of the eastern regions but should be lifted as the night goes on. However, beware of icy roads as temperatures will remain in the negatives overnight causing the snow to freeze solid.
So we should all be ready for tomorrow morning, expected to be the coldest of so far this season. The morning low in Seoul will plunge to minus 8 degree Celsius.
Sunny conditions won't do much to boost the afternoon high, with Seoul reaching only zero degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Gwangju and the surrounding areas and the mountainous regions on Jeju Island could see up to 5 centimeters of snow during the day.
The cold snap will ease on Saturday afternoon so until then be sure to dress extra warmly.
That's Korea for you, here's look at the weather conditions around the world.
