A young man from Rehua Mansoor village in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead during a Durga idol immersion procession in Maharajganj. After the body was brought back home following the post-mortem, the villagers expressed their anger. They are demanding that the homes of all the criminals involved be demolished with bulldozers and are calling for encounters. When the local tehsildar went to the village, he was chased away by the angry crowd. Heavy security forces have been deployed in the village.
