The government remains noncommittal on whether the internet and social media sites will be shut down during the elections to avoid the spread of hate speech and fake news.
While the government says it does not intend to shut down the internet, it says it should be used for the right purposes. Inciting Kenyans to violence, spreading falsehoods and announcing results from parallel tallying systems before the IEBC declares the results are some of the issues that the government wants to be avoided as Andrew Ochieng now reports.
