On Saturday 14th August 2021, there were three special train services organised by Steam Dreams using LNER Thompson B1 61306 "Mayflower" assisted by BR Brush/Sulzer diesel 47772. There were two return services from Colchester to Bury St. Edumunds during the day with an evening dining special to Norwich and back which was turned on the Wensum Curve so that 61306 would lead the train on the return to Colchester.
In the morning the train is seen passing Manningtree station and the nature reserve at Brantham, followed by the balancing return at Belstead Bank with 47772 leading.
The second Bury St. Edmunds to Colchester train is seen passing Brantham nature reserve, viewed from the bank of the River Stour at Manningtree.
In the evening 61306 is seen working hard up the slight gradient from Brantham toward Ipswich and on to Norwich, 47772 can be seen and heard giving assistance in the rear.
Finally the return from Norwich to Colchester is seen at Ardleigh. A London Liverpool Street to Ipswich train passes just before 61306 arrives.
