"Sing Joyfully" William Byrd’s most famous anthem composed around 1605.
Sing Joyfully is from Psalm 81, verses 1-4. It is scored for six voices and vividly displays Byrd's genius for word-painting such as his depiction of the bow strokes of the viola, and at the fanfare-like passages at ‘Blow the trumpet in the new moon’.
