ILS is happy to announce the recent delivery of a unique testing unit for developing catalysts for converting steel furnace offgas to valuable fuels and chemical intermediates.
One Major challenge was to develop a unit that can later be separated by the Client and connected directly to a steel furnace where a sidestream of real gas can be tested. This is particularly important in order to study the effect of various poisons present in such a gas stream on catalyst Performance.
The unit is fully automated. Special coating of stainless steel tubing makes possible Operation with ppm quantities of poisons without tailing or cross-contamination effects. The incorporation of an on-line GC and mass-spectrometer make it possible to obtain quantitative, time-resolved catalyst Performance data.
