Archeologists in Mexico city have found what they say is the skeleton of a young woman belonging to the Aztec nobility.
Rocio Morales and her team discovered the remains five metres below ground in Mexico City's Temple Mayor.
Altogether nearly 1,800 bones were uncovered, believed to be the remains of seven adults and three children.
The unprecedented discovery is the first evidence of mass sacrifice, or reburial of remains, for a member of the ruling class in the Aztec empire.
Morales said: "It's really exciting to make this kind of discovery and be so lucky to to be the first one to dig it up and register it."
Al Jazeera's Rachel Levin reports from Mexico City.
