Turkey's currency, the lira, has lost nearly 40 percent of its value against the dollar this year, as a full-fledged economic crisis continues to simmer.
The administration of US President Donald Trump this week threatened to impose additional economic sanctions on Turkey over the country's continued house arrest of a US pastor on terrorism charges.
