Many people seem to have an infatuation with Sufism. Or at least part of Sufism, like the poetry of Rumi. The same people might very well dislike Islam however, and there seems to be an attempt going on to de-islamize Sufism.
Is it possible to have Sufism without Islam?
Mark Sedgwick is the author behind the book "Western Sufism - From the Abbasids to the New Age". He is a professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Århus.
Religioner.no interviewed him when he was in Oslo as a guest lecturer at IKOS (Institutt for kulturstudier og orientalske språk) at the University of Oslo.
