In this video I'm doing, incline dumbbell press for reps. I wish Goodlife invested in heavier, less bulky weights. It makes it hard to press properly when the combined length of the weights are almost taller than me lol. (update below, please read)
2020 video update: This was made back in 2014 when Goodlife did not have their own branded weights. They no longer exist because someone dropped them from shoulder height and snapped the weight at the handle bar. We had set of 145lbs DB's exactly like these too, which I used in some of my older videos. These weights got removed because the gym didn't want to attract "those kinds" of guys. I was never fond of these weights, but they did the job.
We now have access to the new Goodlife branded weights that only go up to 120lbs. They are still too light and I have a video in my channel where I had to duct tape on additional weight.
I focus on dumbbell work for the stabilizers. You don't work them as hard when you are using a barbell. I have a video of my 1 rep max of 315LB incline barbell on my channel. I always want to work heavier dumbbells because, each exercise has its purpose.
In this video, I weighed in at 235lb. The reason why it looks like I have a big gut is because, I was pushing my core into the belt. I used the belt for additional core support, especially when I first started lifting heavy. Granted, there is weight to lose in my midsection, but training for powerlifting/strongman, its all about the strength. I'm not a bodybuilder, nor do I care for abs, just going for pure strength.
