Ford is redesigning the famous Expedition for 2025. The most exciting change is the long-awaited hybrid choice. Fans will be happy to hear that the update includes a lot more than just the engine.

The outside of the new Expedition Hybrid has been completely redesigned. Spy pictures show a change from the current boxy shape, pointing to a smoother, more efficient shape. The classic grille gets a modern makeover, with new C-shaped LED headlights that stretch out dramatically toward the sides and have a thin LED daytime running light strip along the top edge. The side view shows a more sculpted look, with strong wheel arches and what might be a hidden D-pillar for a smoother roofline that makes it look like a greenhouse. There are also reports that the taillights will be moved higher up on the sides to give the car a wider, more stable stance. Chrome highlights will likely be used less and gloss black or body-colored trim will be added for a more modern look.

When you pop the hood, the magic starts. The impressive hybrid engine from the F-150 is likely to be used in the 2025 Expedition Hybrid. This has an amazing 430 horsepower from its strong twin-turbo V6 engine and electric motor. When paired with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, this offers a smooth, responsive ride with great towing power, all while getting great gas mileage. At low speeds, the electric motor makes driving electric noiseless and free of pollution, making it great for riding around town. When more power is needed, the gasoline engine smoothly takes over, making riding on the highway easy and off-road performance possible. Ford isn't saying much about the battery pack, but people in the industry think it will have enough range for most daily trips on electric power alone, with estimates of up to 30 miles in EV mode.

The exact price of the 2025 Expedition Hybrid has not been released yet. But because it has more features and a more complicated hybrid system, you can expect a small price increase compared to the standard gasoline-powered models. The official release date has also not been set, but smart guesses say it will come out later in 2024, maybe as an early buyer model for the 2025 model year.
