To be eligible for the AMEX Platinum $695 engagement bonus, we need to open a Morgan Stanley Platinum CashPlus Account. This account is a brokerage account that acts as a checking account. In this video, we go over the Platinum CashPlus Account, open this account step-by-step, and do an unboxing of the metal debit card that comes with the account.
The way Morgan Stanley describes it is: It’s a Modern Alternative to Banking that gives you more value and protection in one cash management account. With this account, you can access your cash, anytime, anywhere where banks or tellers accept Mastercard. You can also manage your cash online as well as on their mobile app.
The Platinum CashPlus Account comes with a $55 monthly account fee, but this can be waived if you meet the avoidance criteria. The criteria are 1. At least $5,000 in monthly deposits, 2. A $25,000 average daily cash balance, 3. Morgan Stanley Online enrollment, and 4. an eligible Morgan Stanley Investment relationship.
Once you open up this account, you'll be mailed a Platinum CashPlus debit card and checkbook. However, if you opened a Morgan Stanley Access Investing account FIRST, and THEN opened up a Morgan Stanley Platinum CashPlus account, these accounts are NOT automatically linked, and the Morgan Stanley Investment Relationship will say NO. You will have to call the Morgan Stanley Virtual Advisor team in order to have them manually connect the accounts together to satisfy the 4th requirement for the avoidance criteria.
