This is a motor that came in that had intermittent powering up issues.
During the routine diagnostic process it was found that the stator output was below expected limits. The DVA voltage to the input on the coils ranged from 142-148 volts. This style of coil requires in input voltage of 150+ to fire correctly. After pulling the flywheel we found the root of the problem. Someone had replaced the 18 amp stator with a 40 amp stator (Bigger IS Better - Right?) Not always.
The motor had the 18 amp stator, so the rectifier was overheated, and sorted to ground, which caused the stator to short to ground and melt, as can be seen at the end of the video. While under the flywheel we also replaced the trigger, since I am sure it was strained during all the wiring failures.
As it can be seen, it seems to be powering up great, and the DVA voltage is now in the expected range of 200+ to the coils.
