Batman: Arkham Origins is an action-adventure video game developed by WB Games Montréal and released in 2013. Serving as a prequel to the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, the game delves into Batman's early years as the Dark Knight.

Set on a snowy Christmas Eve, the story kicks off with Batman's encounter with Black Mask, a powerful crime lord, who places a bounty on Batman's head. This draws a host of deadly assassins to Gotham City, including the skilled mercenary Deathstroke. As Batman battles these dangerous foes, he also crosses paths with iconic supervillains like the Joker, Penguin, Bane, and more.

Players navigate an open-world Gotham City, facing off against various enemies using Batman's combat and stealth abilities. The game introduces the "Detective Mode," allowing players to analyze crime scenes and gather clues to solve puzzles and uncover the story's mysteries.

The narrative delves into Batman's complex relationships with allies like Alfred Pennyworth and Lieutenant James Gordon. It also explores Batman's interactions with key characters like the Joker, showcasing the origins of their infamous rivalry.

Batman finds out that Black Mask is leading an escape from Blackgate Prison and has kidnapped Commissioner Gillian B. Loeb. When Batman arrives at the prison, he finds Black Mask being helped by a vicious humanoid creature going by the name of Killer Croc. Following Loeb and Black Mask to the death chamber, Black Mask declares that he is beginning a new chapter without Loeb. Killer Croc and Batman are engaged in combat as Black Mask simultaneously releases Calendar Man and kills Loeb in his stead. After defeating Croc, Batman threatens to throw him down a cliff while Croc sarcastically tells that Black Mask has organized a competition in which he has asked eight of the best assassins in the world to kill Batman in a single night for a reward.

Batman returns to the Batcave after escaping the GCPD as they reclaim the prison to review data from a drone he acquired there and discovers that, counting Croc, there are a total of 8 assassins attempting to murder Batman:

The Super Soldier Bane.
The erratic pyromaniac Firefly.
The Tazer glove was equipped Electrocutioner.
