(3 May 2015) Journalists in Burundi gathered to mark World Press Freedom Day on Sunday and condemn recent moves by the authorities to curtail their freedom.
Dressed in black t-shirts and with black tape on their mouths, Burundian journalists said press freedom in their country was "under attack".
Earlier this week, police raided the press union offices and shut down one of the country's popular private stations, Public Radio Africa, based in the capital of Bujumbura.
Authorities also cut transmission of two other privately owned stations to the rest of the country.
In street protests since Sunday, the military has been acting as a buffer between protesters and local police, who are accused of sometimes using live ammunition against the protesters.
At least six people have been killed in clashes with the police, according to the Burundi Red Cross.
