Phillip Sear plays a piano arrangement of a popular 1968 song by the short-lived Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk (1949-79).

Ivasyuk was born in the Cherniv district of Ukraine. Per Wikipedia "After Volodymyr had already graduated from secondary school, his family moved to the city of Chernivtsi where his father was offered a teaching position at the Bukovinian State Medical University. Volodymyr went on to study at the Lviv Medical Institute while he continued his musical career. He joined the "Karpaty Ensemble" at a local community centre and played the violin and offered his songs to be performed." His big break came in the early 1970s when this song - as performed by Sofia Rotaru (the 'Nightingale of Bukovina') - became extremely popular in the USSR (it won Best Song of the Year award of the Soviet Union in 1971). Ivasyuk later continued both his medical work and musical studies (at the Kyiv Conservatory). He died near Lviv under mysterious circumstances: he was found hanged, but did not necessarily commit suicide.
