We are back in Sydney this week taking care of the Showroom and delivering a few watches to some clients. Even when we are not travelling to go watch hunting, the watches end up coming to us.
In this episode, we purchase two incredibly chic vintage Cartier watches. One being a Cartier Baignoire circa 1980s with a beautiful double stepped 18k yellow gold case and flat top Paris dial with handwinding movement. The other is a Cartier Mini Obus, a model recently made famous by Hip hop Artist Tyler the Creator. These "ladies watches" pack a punch in terms of character and wrist presence. 2024 is a hot year for smaller men's watches, as seen with the successful new Cartier Mini Tank and Audemars Piguet Mini Royal Oak, appealing to both men and women.
A female client came to purchase a very special “mens” Rolex Day Date reference 18038 in 18k yellow gold case with the most stunning sunburst champagne Baguette Diamond String dial. Before we made final delivery, we brought the watch to our local Watchmaker to show you a breakdown of what an authentication process usually entails. The Rolex passes with flying colours and our client is extremely satisfied with her new purchase.
Another stylish client comes to purchase an extremely rare Patek Golden Ellipse with opaline cream dial with the most stunning JPE-made 18k white gold bracelet. Bracelets like these were made by hand back in the day and flow so beautifully on wrist.
We close out the video with a Cartier Santos Octagon reference 2965 in 18k yellow gold with white roman numeral dial that also sold to a client who bought it for his mother. This reference was designed for men back in the 1980s but is now entirely unisex.
Watch sizes on paper really don’t matter. It’s all about how a watch looks and feels on wrist. With enough confidence, you could pull off a 20mm Mini Cartier and a 44mm MB&F Legacy Machine in the same collection.
