Third battle of Panipat was fought between Maratha and Ahmad Shah Abdali. Panipat Movie was based on this war. Maharaja Surajmal did not help Maratha in this battle. But the reasons which were shown in the movie for not supporting Marathas made a controversy.
According to the Panipat Film, Maharaja Surajmal was demanded fort of Agra for helping Marathas. While history says this fort was already occupied by Surajmal. The language spoken by Maharaja is Haryanvi and Rajasthani while sources says he spoke Braj language.
On this issue leaders from Rajasthan oppose movie and said to remove the controversial part as it was spoiling the reputation of Maharaja Surajmal.
Some history sources says Maharaja Surajmal helped Maratha soldiers after the war. He gave them food and clothes with safe travel to Pune.
