BOX vs BIG box, whats the on road difference? which one is faster? how much faster is the BIG box?
since aprox 2010 box exhausts are available, a LOT changed since then. normal boxes do come near to BIG boxes. & the final question, where are the limits of the BIG BOX technical construction? a REAL expansion chamber exhaust it can not get, but it gets close, we know that. lets find out!
setup: quattrini m244, reed valve, phbh30, sip vape static ignition. 119/178 timings 63% ex port width.

What timings are recommended? Sip states"The 'Viper Box' functions optimally when the port timings of the cylinder are adjusted to suit its elaborate layout. We recommend a transfer port timing of: 130°-136°, exhaust port timing of: 190°-196° and a blow down timing of 30°-32°."
Current engine timings are typical for most of the tunings. Its the out of the box m244 timinf with 0,5mm gasket, which is good for 35-37hp with big carb and ezpansion chamber exhaust.
What will happen if you raise the cylinder timings? High end power will be bigger, but also the loss in lower revs, which does not make you faster over all, ie in this 50-100kmh test.
Also consider: the point of the "better high reving" , is often not reached anymore in 3rd gear, so is only a 1st and 2nd gear effect. Torque in low rev on the other hand, is available in all 4 gears, thats why torque makes fast.
