The people of Adamu are Badu people who migrated from present day Ivory Coast. Originally they were called Saa. Adamu is located on the Odumase Kwatire Adantia Road in the Tain District in Bono Region of Ghana.
Adamu is surrounded by the Tain River.Anyone travelling to the Bui dam from Sunyani Odumase passes over the bridge on the Tain river
Adamu of Badu people are not Bono's and they do not speak Bono. The speak Nkoran or Kolango.
Adamu has its own dialect but its culture and traditions are almost the same as those of any other Akan state in Ghana. Adamu people and that of Badu, have a direct rule from Kumasi since the reign of Otumfuo Opoku Ware Katakyie Tenten.

Otumfuo Opoku Ware Katakyie was the Asantehene who freed the Badu people from the oppressions of the Gyamans during the reign of Abu Kofi of Gyaman during the Gyaman war.
Adamu is located 2 miles from Badu and 18 miles from Wenchi in Ghana, on the west bank of the River Tain. It is surrounded by forests and savannah and the river Tain flows near the town.

History also has it that the Gyamans were defeated on the banks of the Tain River and the then Gyaaman hene Kwadwo Adinkra of Adinkra of Adinkra symbols was captured and killed.

Tain District is one of the twelve districts in Bono Region, Ghana.The district assembly is located in the northeast part of Bono Region and has Nsawkaw as its capital town.
