To make (plain) steamed dumpling is very easy as you can see in this video.

In Slovakia, we call this kind of steamed dumplings "knedľa" and the meal we serve it with (usually) is called "vepřo knedlo zelí" (pork-dumpling-cabbage).

Vepřo knedlo zelí is Czech traditional meal but as we used to be Czecho-Slovakia, long time ago, this meal is traditional in Slovakia as well. We just stuck with the Czech name for it 😄.

The longest takes the waiting for the dough to rise (1 hour in total)... you can sit back and relax in the meantime or, prepare the meal you want to go with the dumplings. This kind of dumpling is best served with pork and sauerkraut or, pork and creamy sauce but you can eat it with anything you like.

The steaming of the dumplings takes some time too (20 minutes each of the dumplings). You will start salivating at this point... guaranteed 😋. Your kitchen already smells deliciously from the meal you are cooking and you can't wait for the dumplings to be done too.

NOTE: If you put sweet stuff on the steamed sliced dumplings, such as Nutella, jam, fruits etc, the dumplings will taste like cake 😍. I like to eat leftovers with custard and fruits, dusted with chocolate powder... which always reminds me "dukátové buchtičky" (similar dough, cut into small cubes, baked in the oven and served with hot vanilla cream).
