TRANSCRIPT
The Euclid spacecraft, set to launch soon, aims to unravel the mysteries of the "dark universe."
Once in orbit, Euclid will capture high-resolution images from a stable location, Lagrange Point 1, between Earth and the Sun. Its mission encompasses observing distant cosmic images from the past and closer images of the more recent universe. By meticulously studying these images, Euclid aims to shed light on the universe's evolution over a staggering 10 billion years.
Euclid's mission is to map vast sections of the sky and shed light on the enigmatic dark matter and energy that make up most of the cosmos. Comprising around 27 percent dark matter and 68 percent dark energy, these forces have only been indirectly observed through their gravitational effects.
With funding from the European Space Agency, Euclid is on the brink of launching into space, promising groundbreaking data that could revolutionize our understanding of the universe.
